Announcement Channels | Allow moderators to view announcement statistics
TL;DR, you should be able to view the statistics of Announcement Channels you can send messages in
Public server moderator here, Announcement Channels are a cool thing. You post something, you hit "Publish," and your message is near-instantaneously cloned and sent through thousands of Mario pipes 'till which they reach their destination. It's seriously cool.
So cool in fact, one of my announcements was able to pick up some serious heat. Within 24 hours of publishing, my announcement was #3 on #discordapp. It was posted everywhere: Even in servers that weren't remotely related to mine. 😳
So naturally, I said, "Hey! I should view the statistics of that announcement!"
Discord replied,
May I remind you, I'm a moderator; I do not—nor should I—possess the Manage Server permission. So ultimately, I cannot manage (not even view) the statistics of that announcement.
Trying to navigate there through the Publish prompt causes the app to have a heart attack:
I strongly believe members should be able to view the statistics of Announcement Channels they have "Send Messages" in. This way, you (the server administrator) wouldn't have to grant the potentially-destructive Manage Server permission to anyone you have posting announcements, just so they can view the statistics of them. It's a harmless feature in my opinion, and would make writing announcements a lot more intuitive and exciting.
Your friendly neighbourhood chonk,
Kai
