GUIDE - HOW TO REVERT TO AN OLDER VERSION OF DISCORD (Android)
Since Discord doesn't read anything posted here, I thought I might as well help anyone who came here because of the new update.
This is a link to a list of APK files for previous versions of Discord: https://apkpure.com/discord-friends-communities-gaming/com.discord/versions
Go to the list and select the version you want - I recommend version 15.6 (it's a version from before the layout update and has features such as quick pinging and highlighted text preview), but you can also use much older versions if you prefer. Delete Discord and any dual copies you may have, including Secure Folder. Install the APK and run it, and boom, Discord is back to normal.

15.6 really is the version to go back to.
Besides the obvious things it doesn't have from the latest update, it still has the older style chat box, not needlessly rounded with two buttons for attaching media instead of the one that worked better (and didn't pop up the keyboard immediately when I just wanted to attach and send a pic). It still has the text preview when long pressing a message so I can easily see the name of an emoji someone posted.

What kind of permissions do you need on your Android device to do this? I've never worked with APK's before.

What features does it lack from the latest updates?
Also, why is that particular version not updating? Anyways, i've started using 15.6 again and it's miles better.

Shadow_8472: You will need to allow your device to run files downloaded from your Internet browser, but that's pretty much it.
HRudyPlayZ: v15.6 lacks zero features presented in the newest UI updates. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "why is that particular version not updating" -- these APKs are older released versions of the app.

Well I have a link to a apk that works but its not the v15.6 and I have a list of directions on how to install it

9.7.9 seems a bit old, but I'm also running into the same problem. did you try any more recent versions?

I wouldn't recommend anything before v15.6 if you want full support and OLED lighting. If it's reverting to the newest version, then the only explanation is you didn't delete all copies of Discord on your device or you have auto-update enabled.

It's not reverting to the newest version, the version string still lists 15.6. I've uninstalled the app, removed files, and turned off auto-updating. However, the new UI is appearing (using an old stylesheet without rounded edges, it looks like) anytime the discord app reloads. Reading the debug logs, this is likely because even the old version is fetching "STORE_CHANNELS_V21".
If there's some other magic to removing apps beyond clearing files/cache in Storage settings and then uninstalling, complete with restarts in between, I'm not sure what other explanation there might be.

Oh so this may be late.... but I have a fix. Use sd maid by darken. When you uninstall an app it always leaves a tiny residual file. Sdmaid can clear the tombstones. It doesn't need root for this. You'll find it in the google play store. It's free too.

I see a lot of people recommending 15.6 but I can't see it in apkpure after v28.5, does discord not support it anymore?

still works. just make sure you are using old android. if the version you have is too new the old apks may be incompatible.

nooot sure if theres been any funk but i cant seem to get past versions to work, i updated since the old version i had from NOT updating discord was being oddly slow and not loading images, but now that im trying to revert said update i cant seem to be able to, as im stuck with the newest build of the app. not sure what to do about it, ive deleted all old versions and turned off auto updates as well
