Discord is the only platform where if you're banned, the chatroom literally vanishes as if nonexistent. In virtually every other platform, banned users you can still see and access the chat forum but can't post; but to have the chatroom disappear from your page is where you can't even see it is savage.
It's too easy to get kicked since its moderated by nepotism; it also encourages people to not talk in chat because if you talk, you stand out, and risk getting banned. It's a really outdated platform that encourages stalking. If users can't see a server - they're more likely to make alts to get back in, and DM users who were there. You get invested in the chat and the people, and to have an entire community disappear from your page is unnecessarily cruel. And the private servers are very difficult to get back into.
Here's my idea:
if a server has more than 50 people in it, then banned/kicked users should be allowed to lurk but not post. The server icon stays in the sidebar, but banned users cannot participate in chat. Perhaps admins can opt for the chat CAN be hidden, so long as the server icon stays in the users sidebar.
If a server has more than 150 people in it, then they should be publicly listed online.
