Issues with updated UI, Text, and others
(Warning, big wall of text incoming. But in short, Discord mobile, what happened?)
- General interface:
Text font - Personally find the new font more difficult to read, and even more so with its small size and thin lettering. Maybe this would be better if users had the ability to change the font they're seeing (And where it is presented, ie in chat only, bold/italic text only.. etc.) This is kind of fixed by making the font size bigger by .25 but it's still rough.
Server folders - Around .5 a second of delay between tapping it and it opening, no delay with closing it though. ^^
User profiles - There is a lot more to scroll through, especially as an admin in servers. Audit log commands should be placed after the roles list. Connections should only be able to be viewed on their full profile, as it makes things way too cramped (rightclick/hold).|
Channel lists - Way too cramped. Difficult to navigate, and a thin hitbox to click on them in the first place. Though this makes some channel/server decor look better on mobile, it doesn't seem worth it to be difficult to find the channel you're looking for ^^;
Time/date presentation - No idea why Discord switched to a 24Hour based system, as well as changing how dates are displayed. Please allow users to set their preferences for these things in the future ^
- Search & Pinned messages
Page separation for search - This makes things so much faster to go through, as well as helping guestimation of finding certain timeframes/dates.
Pinned message preview/jump to message - The UI for this feels a little janky, but this can be useful for saving time if you have difficulty finding "that certain message where (words)".
Load more messages - After scrolling down on or clicking it, it jumps you to the bottom of the loaded messages. Feels really janky. Automatically loading the messages around it like how it used to was more efficient ^^;
- Other notable things
Notification settings in DM's/groups - Confused on why this isn't implemented on PC version yet (Using PTB on PC) as this seems useful. Very nice to have notifications for certain people/important stuff!
Darker dark mode? - It may just be the font, but the contrast between text and background feels different. What if there were accessibility settings for contrast/brightness within Discord? Also, spoilered messages were easier to read with a lighter grey background.
Tap to add reaction - This looks unnecessary, as it just adds one more thing to the message clutter. This also makes reaction roles look messy
Lag - Banners and images seem to be performing worse after the update, as well as folder opening delays.

I think that might be all ^^;
This new update seems to have bad issues with readability and lag in general and was definitely better and more efficient before the update. Albeit some functions are nice.
Any thoughts/critiques?

I agree, the new update has the text way too small and unreadable. It's so confusing and I liked the older UI.

Literally opened my app and instantly got an headache from the font. It's so small and some of the bolded bits are weirdly fuzzy? Genuinely hate looking at discord now.

I have encountered issues with all you wrote, me and some other users also encounterd issues with MIUI, namely that in some menus the ui clips with the top bar of the phones.
The added haptic feedback when clicking serverfolders is, to me, very annoying. Its also made worse by the fact that it doesn't always work and you cannot turn it off

I have no idea how that unoptimized React Native garbage made it past quality checks, it's horrible!The performance of the app went from good to unusable, it's not acceptable.
Everything lags to the point that inputs are skipped; this app is now TRASH.I used this tutorial on how to revert back to the old native android style app, and I'm sticking to it!
