Screen flashing, notifications settings not working

Since the latest update, with every text message sent by myself and others in either server or DM, previous messages are no longer pushed up but instead the app page essentially refreshes - in busy channels causing the screen to flash several times a second. It is incredibly uncomfortable for those of us who are sensitive to flashing lights and hurts the eyes. All of my notification settings both in app and in Android remained the same yet the app now sends me notifications via pop-up whilst I am in other apps or not using my phone. I have changed and reverted these settings and it has not helped. My phone is constantly buzzing unless I mute my friends and servers. Also wanted to mention the threads issue someone else brought up previously - the arrow instead of hamburger menu serves no purpose other than to add extra time and steps to how most of us normally use threads and the app. There is no reason why someone would want to come out of a thread via jump back to thread start in parent channel when they simply want to check a DM and then quickly return to thread. It also adds extra steps to returning to current conversation in the parent channel.
