Emoticons automatically changing to emojis

My android device updated August 2022, there are loaaadddssss of complaints about it. I have not however seen anyone comment about how emoticons automatically changing to emojis, a feature we once could choose to turn on or off. I can no longer find the option to turn it off, it's like it's been completely removed from settings? Please let us turn this off. Sometimes we want emoticons, sometimes we want emojis. Let us choose! Fix the settings! And the rest of this crappy update..

    I came to post the same thing. =P is way better than 😛, and one of my favorite things about discord was that i could still use classic emoticons
