How can you report people who send you hateful messages then immediately delete them?

Some random person sent me a DM telling me to kill myself and that he hopes my entire family dies. Lol... anyways he immediately deleted the message before I could even alt tab to my DMs and I only read this message from the notification that popped up while I was in game.

How can you prevent people from doing that or at least have some sort of proof for the harassment they are doing?

I'm under the impression here that once they delete the message that not even Discord themselves are able to see it anymore. Is that true?

    Do a screen shot, take a pic, etc.
    You could also not get immediately offended and understand that the person realized they were an ass and deleted it knowing it was inappropriate.
