Nitro giveaways

I've been on discord for 1 year+ now, and theres a lot of servers which people invite me, and tell me its a "Giveaway server" Where basically you join another server, and you can enter for a "Nitro giveaway". Just wanted to know is it legal for servers to make fake nitro giveaways?
