Lowered image display resolution in browser

When you copy the link of an image on discord while the image is enlarged, and paste it in the edge web browser, the resolution is reduced. When you copy the link while the image is not enlarged, or by pressing "open original", you get the full resolution image. Why is this?

    Images inside of the client are smaller to reduce server bandwidth (these URLs start with media while full-size images start with cdn). Unenlarged images are wrapped in a link to the full-size image, but enlarged images are not. This has been a thing for a while and though I don’t think it’s an oversight, it’s definitely not the behavior that users expect.
