Feature Suggestion - Messaging Without Formatting

I think it would be pretty cool if you could somehow send messages without it being formatted, such as sending *hi* with the * instead of it being italicized. Maybe this could be done by having you press Alt + Enter or something similar? Or it might be already a feature for all I know but I couldn’t find anything about it on the suggestions
