More roles for Discord

Hello, hello! I'd like to create a post in hopes that Discord will raise the role limit on it's platform from 250 to 500.

How should a higher role limit be added?

I personally think it would be a great addition to Discord and an even greater one if we connect it to server boosting perks. For example, I believe that if we have it so standard servers are given the basic 250 roles or even 150 roles to start with. Once the server reaches level 1 boosting or level 2 boosting, the role limit increases from 250 to 350 or an overall higher number. Then when the server reaches level 3 boosting, the server is granted a max of 500 roles. No more and no less. Though once the server drops a level, said roles will also be unable to be used until the boosting level of the server is back to three. Similar to how server stickers and emoji slots work.

Why should Discord even consider raising the role limit for servers?

Below are the following reasons why I think Discord should raise the role limit for servers.

Expanding Server Possibilities:

Discord has emerged as a hub for diverse communities, from gaming clans to study groups and everything in between. However, as communities grow, they require more roles to maintain order, organization, and hierarchy. By raising the role limit above 250, server administrators can better accommodate larger and more complex communities, fostering greater engagement and collaboration within Discord's ecosystem.

Streamlining Server Management: 

As servers grow and diversify, the need for specialized roles becomes increasingly important. Game-specific roles, moderation roles, content creator roles, and more – all contribute to a seamless user experience. By allowing for a higher role limit, Discord will simplify server management, enabling administrators to assign roles without being constrained by arbitrary limits.

Amplifying Server Boost Perks:

Server boosting is an essential feature that brings communities together while offering attractive perks like enhanced audio quality, server banner customization, and more. By connecting the role limit to server boost levels, Discord can incentivize users to boost servers further, driving more revenue for the platform and giving back to the community that supports it.

Catering to Growing Communities:

As Discord becomes an increasingly popular choice for communities worldwide, certain servers inevitably outgrow the current role limit. Raising the limit would demonstrate Discord's commitment to its users, showing that the platform adapts to their needs and provides the tools necessary for their communities to thrive.

Roleplaying Communities:

As a proud owner of quite a few RP Discord servers, I surprisingly find the 250 role limit being more limited than it should. My most active server is an SCP themed roleplaying server which has a multitude of factions such as the SCP Foundation, Chaos Insurgency, Serpents hand, Global Occult Coalition and many more that we wish to add. Though due to the role limitation, the server struggles to even go properly in-depth with the factions we already have. And I feel that many other server owners who own DND, Text based RP, and overall RPG themed servers heavily relate to what I'm referring to here. 

Conclusion…

In conclusion, raising the role limit above 250 and linking it to server boost level perks is a progressive step that Discord should consider. By doing so, Discord would empower its users with enhanced server management, encourage boosting and support larger, more diverse communities.
