Why are the days of the week shifted by one day in the calendar?

Why are the days of the week shifted by one day in the calendar? I had severe brain pain because I thought it was Saturday but the last day was shown as today, which was actually supposed to be Sunday, then I saw that Sunday was right at the beginning. can this be changed please?
