Move Messages
It would be really useful for moderators to be able to move messages between text channels in a guild.
This could involve a new permission: 'MOVE_MESSAGES'.
Some concerns about this idea have been raised, but do not seem to be fatal. These are touched upon as follows.
Could this be abused?
It could only be abused to the same extent as existing powers such as kicks, bans, and message deletions. Guilds could have the ability to control who wields the power, preferably through a dedicated MOVE_MESSAGES permission. They could also monitor its use through the Audit Log. If the power were to be abused under these conditions, the issue would seem to lie with the powerholders in the guild in question, rather than the power itself.
Could members be confused?
If a message is moved without any indication, this could be confusing, as members may not realise that their message has been moved. This could be helped by having an automated system message which takes the place of the moved message to explain that the message has been moved.

I guess they figured someone would build it by now. And by the looks of it someone did

I just tried it and it works well. Yes it is a bot, but it does the job and is only usable by admins I think

I have tried that bot, but have not gotten it to work yet.
It keeps saying it needs 4 permissions, even though I granted them.
And, it still would be more elegant if Discord would simply build in this feature, for both messages and threads.
No issues with bot permissions, dates and times either … as I hear those would change.
And, the bot can only handle plain text messages.

Yes it gave me a little trouble too at first. If any channels are restricted to certain roles or members it won't work until the bot has a role or is a member for that channel. That was the issue for me. Once I fixed it it worked.

5 years and still nothing?
C'MON DEVS! WTF?0 -
How we still don't have this feature in 2024 is beyond me.
Message boards and forums already featured moving posts well over 20 years ago.
What gives? 🤷🏻♂️0 -
I would still love to see this feature be added

A mod should be able to select a bunch of messages and push them into a new thread in the same channel. To prevent abuse, it should show a (no-delete) message with a link to the new thread.
Off-topic stuff just happens. The only options of ‘leave it there’ or ‘delete each message one by one’ and/or 're-post one by one' is idiotic.
But by all means… ignore this and work on the $12.99 sponge-bob avatars, voice chat sound boards and obnoxious animated profile backgrounds that make it impossible to read. This post has been here for 5 years, and Discord's current market cap is 15 billion. I think you can figure this out.6 -
The OP was posted SEVEN years ago… it was last edited five years ago.

It is, and it's even more tragic with forum channels existing.
