Limit certain users to read-only mode
Sometimes people suck. Sometimes I suck.
It would be nice if there were a way to make individuals who suck read-only for specific chat rooms or servers so that they could continue to read messages posted by other users but not be able to contribute to the chat themselves.
It would be nice if this feature were also opt-in so that users could choose to exclude themselves from conversations until they have deemed that their blood alcohol levels have returned to within acceptable ranges for participating in rational discourse with other human beings.

There is! You just have to make a role that you will assign to people you dont want talking. Then go to `Channel Settings` (If on PC, right click the channel) and click on `Edit Channel`and go to the `Permissions` Tab. There you can add the role you previously created and scroll down and mark ❎ on Send Message permission but mark ✅ on the Reading Messages Permission! 0 -
cant you just make a role to do that? opt in using a self role bot 0 -
It would be great to be able to mute them locally, instead of muting them for everyone
