Rebranding and Replacing Social Media

I have a large group of friends who are very displeased with the manipulation and misuse of data on Facebook. I believe there is a large portion of their users (myself included) who are desperate for a replacement. Discord can easily be the solution for this, it just needs to implement a few key features that people use Facebook for.

 

  1. Profiles with birthdays and personalized info. This allows for users to know and interact with their friends.
  2. A, "Feed" that shows posts from channels and people you follow. The main reason people are obsessed with Facebook is the ability to scroll endlessly for content.
  3. Event planning is vital to make sure that people have no reason to stay on Facebook.

 

I feel if these three simple features are implemented, Discord has an excellent chance to replace Facebook and takeover that market. I would highly recommend advertising and using people brand recognition with Zoom to promote Discord as a better option to get non-gamers introduced during Covid. If these changes are made, I will encourage every person I know to make the switch.

    This is pretty cool except maybe the personalized info, it seems too much like Facebook and it could start the whole thing again. But a feed would be pretty cool, and event planning could look something like one of these, but have a set date and time:Although I personally don't see Discord completely replacing Facebook, these would still be awesome features.
