How to Bold Text in Discord

To create bolded text in discord, all you have to do is start and end the bolded text with two asterisks (*).

The asterisk is SHIFT+8 on your keyboard.

To bold text, we used two asterisks, like this: **bold text** so, try this out!

How to Create Bold Italicized Text in Discord (Bold + Italics)

You might’ve been able to guess the markdown for Bold + Italics by now…

Instead of only one or two asterisks, it’s three asterisks.

Here’s an example of ***bold italicized text***

Then say if I wanted to say "panda" but bold all I have to do is type this ***panda***

also, another way to get asterisks on your keyboard (computer or laptops only)

You see the numbers right? If so find the number 8, dont press it yet, use your left thumb and hold it down on the button that shows an arrow pointing up, then press the 8 and you'll see it will appear on the screen as an asterisk the more you press those two buttons at the same time the more asterisks you'll get!

How to Underline Text in Discord

To format our text as underlined, we need two use two underscores (__)

So one underscore will look like this _, again hold on the button on your keyboard (or screen) that has an arrow pointing up, that button will be located on the bottom left on your screen, hold on that button and press a button on the right to the button with a zero, and that will give your sentence or word an underline!

Advanced Text Formatting in Discord: Writing in Color

And now we get to the fun part… formatting our discord messages in color!

Once you start getting some colorful messages out there in the channels you frequently visit, you’ll start getting asked how it’s done.

We’re going to cover some basics (code blocks), and then jump right into coloring your messages! Let’s get to it!

Single Line Code Blocks in Discord

To create a single line code block in discord, you need to use the ‘tick’ or ‘backtick’ character: `. how you  make a backtick character is by typing using  these keys : '.

The ‘tick’ or ‘backtick’ character should be in the upper left corner of your keyboard right under the escape (ESC) key.

Once you’re familiar with the ‘backtick’ key, let’s create a single line code block. All you have to do is put a single backtick before and after your text.
