Someone other than me using my email for discord.

Just found out that someone had set up a discord account using my secondary email address...so anyway logged in just now and took control of this account using the Reset Password option and while I do want to have a discord account, should I delete this account and create a new one? Or once a account gets deleted does the email address get locked out or is there a cooldown period?   Also how do people bypass the email verification?
