Adding crypto support will destroy Discord

i love discord and i have for years. i was so glad to find that the free version is completely functional. both the base functionality and extra features put it leagues above any other service i've used. discord has been my primary message app since i was 13, and until now i honestly had faith that the discord team valued their users as people instead of customers.

i use discord because it's not a cash grab - so i think it's safe to say that i am shocked and disappointed about the possibility of cryptocurrency support. in aligning yourselves with the culture surrounding crypto, you are alienating all of your users who aren't involved with it. we do not want crypto, and if you add support for crypto wallets, we will leave. if you allow discord to become a crypto space, soon that is all it will be. you are sacrificing discord's reputation as one of the world's most useful and user-friendly messaging services in exchange for a market that collectively uses as much power as a country. and not a small country. more like the size of poland.

because of this announcement, i will not be renewing my discord nitro subscription. i am not comfortable with financially supporting an industry that is so hostile to humanity. i hope that you will reconsider your choice and continue to foster community, instead of monopoly money.
