[Suggestion] Timeout Users should be restricted from messaging mutual server members
Timeout Users should be restricted from messaging mutual server members
Discord recently introduced a new timeout feature, which has been in beta and exclusive on partnered servers for the past month at the time of writing this. With the feature, all servers will natively have a temporary mute system which would restrict users in timeout mode from sending messages, replying, reacting with emojis, and speaking in voice channels. This feature should be extended to restricting users from accessing direct messages with fellow mutual members of a server (even if the user has them enabled).
Those who end up in timeout mode may not always just stop there in the tracks, but take their disruptive behavior elsewhere, by direct messaging members to evade the timeout entirely. Although the user receiving the message could report them, this takes time and could instead add another additional layer of protection for the server and could also help against raids or self-bots who join purely for advertisement purposes.
However, there would be one exception. This would not limit direct messages with bots. As a good amount of servers use some form of ModMail bot for inquires with Moderators, these users who are in timeout mode should be able to at least contact the individuals who placed them in that state.
Thank you for taking time to read my post. All feedback is appreciated!
