using a browser within discord runs in the background on mobile

Discord allows me to open links with an in-built browser but it runs even when i close discord on mobile. I check my screen time on mobile and the websites i access have run for 7-12 hours when accessed via discord, even if discord is not running. drains my phone battery pretty quickly.
