Server option to disable members from direct messaging
Hello,
I run a community where spam bots and advertisers come into my discords and spam by members with invites to other communities etc.
I think it would be really great to add an server setting option where we disable members from messaging each other if the server is the only mutual.
I've noticed that bots, spam accounts etc are becoming a worsening problem, and it would be great to add tools to large communities that are specifically targeted by this

Accepting Direct Messages from server members is option at the user level. Disabling it at the server level could prevent your community from building relationships and socializing. You should educate your community on the different types of scams and encourage them to enable Safe Direct Messaging if they haven't already. Remind your members that protecting their account is their responsibility.
You could also enable the new Content Moderation feature to prevent users from sending malicious invites and keywords & phrases commonly used in scams to your members inside of text channels.

Perhaps there could be a setting where users have to manually enable direct messages from server members, but aren't actively prohibited from doing so?

Rubik - Server raids and message invite spamming should be something preventable at the the guild/server level. Like a "Allow direct messages by default" togglable option, especially for larger communities where that is a huge issue.

Chosing what the "standard" setting is for my users in my server when it comes to DM access similar as notification settings for a server is a great idea! It needs to notify users tho, because it could lead to confusion. (Joining a server should pop up the settings next to rules when joining. DM settings, notification and mention settings)

Considering this as a feature to combat server raids actually makes a lot of sense. I’d support that change. We need more features to combat raids, though I’m not sure if this would conflict with users personal settings. It would need to be set up so that if they are friends, they can always send and receive DMs.
Let’s say you share two m mutual servers with someone. Would your server’s DM restrictions prevent my server members from DMing each other? I just see this causing a lot of conflicts between servers.
