[Suggestion] Local nicknames
Discord seriously needs to allow people to set local nicknames for other users.
Discord more than most services because it allows users to easily and frequently change both their display name and username, which many people do habitually - sometimes even multiple times per week - and this can make it incredibly difficult to keep track of who is who.
Currently you are forced to type a note into that user's Note field, but this is only effective for the particular users you choose to type this note for. Not only is it clunky and requires you to type a note for everyone who seems to change their name, but in order to "re-discover" who someone is after they have changed their name, you are required to click on their username and read the note that you have typed (if any!) and mentally re-associate that user's "name of the day" with the person again. This could be many users in larger community discord servers.
A simple feature to allow a local nickname setting, much like how Steam does, would resolve this issue almost entirely and remove the frustration of having to continuously re discover who particular users are.

We should be able to set local nicknames and I'm surprised it still isn't a thing years after people started asking for it as a feature request. I don't care to see silly names that can change regularly and would much prefer to set a local nickname as their real name, or what I know them as. This can't be difficult to implement since the tags refer to a user ID and not that specific name (tags work if you change your name after the tag is made).0
