Relief and support for Discord
With every hour I use Discord, I hope for it more and more. It would be so great if you could host a Discord server yourself, because Discord seems to have problems with its bandwidth. I often had to use my own Nextcloud instance with my friends and start a screenshare there to be able to read or even recognize anything. The quality of screenshares has gotten so bad in the last few months that even buying Nitro only improves the quality 5% of the time.
So I'm hoping for a solution that allows Discord to host itself, so Discord doesn't have to handle such a large amount of traffic.
Most of the regularly used servers are from larger communities anyway with admins who would figure out how to deploy a self-hosted Discord instance on a Linux server with a Docker container. It would even be perfectly understandable if you had to pay about $50 to connect this Discord instance to the Discord universe so that the server can still be found via Discord clients.
To make this 50$ more worthwhile it would be appropriate to add features like:
- Unlimited emojis & stickers
- Admin adjustable upload limit
- Rank based limit on screen sharing quality & audio quality
And for an extra 20$ per year
- Custom Role icons, Animated Banner, Animated Servericon & Custom Invite Link
There is no need to open a support for self-hosting a Discord instance. A good documentation in all languages would be enough as with time the community would create YouTube tutorials anyway.
So, this would be my thought up solution to lighten the load & support Discord so we can all continue to have a fun time with our friends on the best chat platform that ever existed.

Sound like Teamspeak with his non-sense licences. I like the idea, but if Discord is doing something similar to Teamspeak when the self-host will come, that could be a disaster anytime soon. Bots is already a thing. Imagine Discord who limit you with a number of users at your self-hosted server and make you forced to buy a licence to upgrade slots has same way to Teamspeak. It's just horrible if something similar happends. Anyways Teamspeak is try matrix but TS hate federated. Soo i guess there some conclusion.
