new image layout does not suit a text chat, functionality is reduced from the previous way
Apologies for making yet another post about this but I feel others don't express the problem in clear enough terms.
I initially liked the new image layout by making images and videos appear larger without having to click the image to get a good look at them. This IMPROVED VISIBILITY and should be what changes to the layout should aim to do.
However, when multiple images are posted in a single message, they are CROPPED and thus EVEN LESS VISIBLE than the previous way.
This may be useful on a social media site like twitter where there might be a greater emphasis on INDIVIDUAL POSTS, but in a text chat which aims to display a CONVERSATION without breaks, this is unhelpful and frankly POOR DESIGN.
On another note, the new layout makes it so video attachments no longer have visible filenames, which is just an unnecessary removal of a helpful feature.
It makes it seem like the people who are making these updates do not understand what people who use discord actually use it for, and are more or less copying successful social networks to appear modern as though discord is basically just the same as twitter or instagram.

Yeah, what else can we do than to flood this forum with posts about this.
It is a disgrace, it makes Discord way worse for images of most aspect ratio except for almost squares. However, the Discord staff seems particularly stubborn or maybe thick-headed about this.
Not sure if they ever admit that this new feature was a mistake to be rolled out the way it was. I can see some usefulness in it, but not if they just replace existing behavior with it, even retroactively.
With new posts, at least I can just send it one image per post, which is an annoying work-around, which sadly allows for others to interject with other posts, but it is fine in the forum-like channels that don't run fast. And posting multiple images in a fast running channel won't do any good anyway.
I'd rate it as just a medium severity annoyance if it didn't apply retroactively.

if we don't flood they won't do anything about it. Way I see it, everyone should make their own post explaining it Vlasec
