Why is the new app rated 17+ on iPhone?!!?!

I am now locked out of discord permanently until my parents take of my age restrictions. This is lame. I can no longer talk to my friends and I can’t see them because of COVID. I’m basically stuck in a little bubble. This is ridiculous please give the app a lower age restriction or next time you guys update it, say in the frikin update description that you’re locking your users out of your app. Very disappointed.

    The same thing happened to me. Apple changes the ratings on apps in the App Store, not app developers/owners. My best guess would be Apple realizes that a lot of younger users use Discord and not iMessage, so changing the age limit would force or at least make it harder for them to use it. The same thing with how Chrome, Firefox, and Google are considered "17+" in the App Store because they are too mature, even though Safari is allowed and uses Google as its search engine. I would also point out that a lot of the "bad" things listed in their age rating can easily happen on iMessage, and, since iMessage and SMS are related, it is a lot easier to be scammed through it. Hope this gets resolved somehow :|

    Since the iOS client already blocks nsfw content
