Release the graphics card after leaving video calls on Windows
Hi,
This is probably quite niche, but I use a Surface Book 2 where I can detach the screen from the "laptop body". However, since the graphics card is in the "body" part (the screen part only has integrated graphics), I can't do this if the graphics card is being used e.g. by a game.
I've noticed that if I join a video chat, Discord seems to not only use my graphics card for that (presumably for GPU-accelerated video encoding or some such?), but it continues to use it even hours after leaving the video call: if I try to detach the screen with Discord open, I get a notification that I can't because of Discord. Whereas if I have a freshly opened Discord that I have not joined any video calls with, I can detach without closing Discord and continue to use Discord in "tablet mode". I imagine it's similar for anyone using an eGPU.
Could Discord please be made to properly close the GPU use after some time, so that it becomes possible to detach the screen without closing Discord? It's inconvenient and I sometimes miss out on conversations because I forgot to re-open Discord afterwards.
Many thanks.
