Checking New Username Availability
once you change your username the first time, you can no longer check which ones are available or not without entering your entire password and gambling on if you're actually changing your username or not. i wanted to keep seeing what's taken without actually changing mine since i don't know how long the lockout timer is yet. really unfortunate to see this system lacking in basic functionality regardless of your opinion of the change itself.
i'll save my complaints about the new username system in its entirety though as there's tons of posts about that already.

You can always do the tried and true "annoy random users by briefly adding them to see if their name is available or not" except oops! That doesn't work either because a bunch of names have apparently been pre-reserved so discord employees and cronies can jump the goddamn queue to get them.
