"We designed mobile as its own independent experience"

Announcements of the new mobile layout seem to be hyping up the fact that it is no longer the same as the desktop layout. Disregarding all the other issues that people are pointing out with it, it seems to me that since Discord, from my own experience and observations, is often used in a manner involving frequently switching back and forth between mobile and desktop versions of the app, that it should be a given that the interfaces for these versions should be as similar to each other as is feasible. That is to say, I do not support not only the details of the new mobile redesign, but its entire reason for being done. I haven't given feedback on anything with the Discord app before here, but this feels like a big enough deal to at least say something. And going by the rest of the posts in this category, I'm not alone in this.

You're exactly right, it's frequent that I switch between desktop and mobile. Sometimes I put my computer to sleep in the middle of a conversation to get food while continuing that conversation on my phone.
You should consider, if you haven't already, rating discord one star on the app store. The best way to ensure these UI updates don't get forced on us again, or to ensure that we can ignore the update if we want without sacrificing security to do so, is to force discord to hear us on all fronts. If their app rating goes down fewer and fewer people will be pushed the application, and that will overall hurt discord numbers as that's fewer potential costumers.
