How many people get their username stolen because they fell for the forbidden image?

I wonder how many of you fell victim to the banned image on Discord?

I've been ghosted by support for 3 weeks now even though I provided them with a lot of proof, constantly reopening tickets and I think if we all make LOTS of noise about this issue we could have a small chance of getting unbanned. I've already read that a lot of people fell for this method which is carried out by scammers to get hold of good usernames (mine was “77”). It's ridiculous that so many people are falling for this and are getting ignored by discord. I'm sure most of us are innocent, I've had my account for 7 years without being flagged but I fall for this stupid scam once and all my achievements, servers and friends tied to my account are gone.
Well done, Discord! You are going to have a lot of work checking and unbanning all of your false banned users by hand.

They were on Holiday and decided the entire company should leave which is why no response whatsoever which makes no sense since most company have a few people stay behind. What else is dumb is that they don't extend the timeframe before your account is deleted even when they're on break. My account was also made in 2016 with no incidents yet one thing caused all of it to be gone in a snap due to AI detection they have now. I keep getting a Clyde response before closing ticket now it is assigned to "Gunter" and closed again but I reopened it. Hopefully this means someone will read my appeal.

Same thing happened to me. I have an account from 2016 with no previous violations or issues, and it just got banned because of an image I was baited into sending by a verification bot on the 'Amigo' server. The process was basically just copying and pasting (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) an image that the bot sent into a public channel on that server.
What's puzzling is that bots can post that image without any penalties to the server, server owner, or bot owner, and it can stay there for a long time. I think I saw posts with that image on that server that were posted months ago. But people like us get banned for it almost immediately. It seems these scammers might be using mass reports to abuse the system.
I submitted my ticket 4 days ago and received a response from the Clyde bot 3 days ago, but I'm still waiting for a response from a human.

Delicate that “Amigo” server is the same exact server I got invited to. Do you have screenshots of the server? I've provided screenshots of the people that did it to me in another thread (https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/20230798165015-Account-was-disabled-erroneously-but-I-think-I-know-why) but if you have additional proof, would you maybe post it in here?

Discord when it comes to banning innocent users they will do it in an instant but as soon as someone report actual bad users. They don’t care lmao this company is a joke

Same here. Mentioned in other posts. No word still from support on my ticket reporting the abuse. Meanwhile they still only have their bots ascertaining that I broke ToS so my account won't be reinstated. They just refuse to make a person actually look into what is going on in this server…

Yea 2 days left for me until my account is gone and my username will be taken by the frauds. Discord playing into the hands of criminals, love to see it.

I got less than a week myself. My plan is to at least try to get my username again so at least the scammers don't win entirely, but we'll see about that. I looked into it and some people say it takes 24h, 29h, 4 days and counting before the username was available again. I have a friend willing to help me try to get it and I suggest you try the same.
I'm still unable to get a human response anywhere. Another Clyde bot response on one ticket and my bbb complaints (I made one for my ban appeal and one about this issue in general) both have the same response saying they checked on Jan 10th and verified I broke ToS. So basically the bots checked and found we did post said image and that's all that matters. Context doesn't. There is no point in appealing to bots lol.
Just adding that they still don't read anything on BBB lol. Nothing I said mattered. They just looked up my ticket number to see associated account and gave me the bot verdict.

too little too late for us but I think it's high time the community boycotts nitro until they get a proper support team in place. I don't have a social media presence to even attempt to start it but if anyone here does, maybe we can at least start a change that should have started long ago.

Way too late for my account lmao. it's been 25 days so 5ish more and the account is gone for good. I'm just angry that they don't allow owner transfer if group is below 100 like I have a private group with my friends 5ish years worth of history and they don't allow transfer and said make a new one. I don't care that my account is deleted, just my group with my friends that now we can't have control over

yikes :( I have that too but I'm not the owner thankfully. At least ur friends are in it still and maybe they can salvage as much of it as possible, Make the same channels, add the same roles etc. It really sucks that the past of it is gone, but at least you get the sense that it is the same in the present. So the illusion might bring some peace in the meantime. That's how I ultimately coped with my account itself. Joined as many of the same servers, added back my closest friends. The history is all gone but at least it still lives in memory.

Just some maybe useful info- I changed my username on my new account a few days ago and my old name is not available when I try to claim it from a different account. But if I try to change the same account that had the name back to that name, it is available. So it seems unclear to me when a name becomes available and it seems the account that used it last can reclaim. So maybe using the same email address to make a new account have a chance to claim the name first?0 -
Marsarita LIT LIT LIT my original account still exists. It should be deleted in a few hours. I will try get the username back but I'm pretty certain a lot of scammers are going to sit and wait for it to become available to sell it. If they achieve it, Discord really helped criminals make money illegally, which is just funny in my opinion. Discord is actively promoting illegal activity by doing nothing concerning this issue they have with their AI. My ban-appeal is still open but I had to reopen it 2 days ago because it was marked as solved again without response. I already moved on to my alternative account but it's still so hard to believe that Discord is just gonna let this slide without doing anything to help us and ban the people that are abusing this.

We were all doomed to not get account back after 14 days lol. They delete most of associated data to the account after 14 days but 30 days to fully delete. Basically after 14 days your email and password no longer belong to the account but would still say disabled when trying to log in. This is why ticket are auto resolved after few hours of reopening

I feel you… It's upsetting to have had the hope to begin with after seeing how we were all just ignored straight up. Knowing I am in the right and that if a person answered and spent 5 min to look at this server, we would all have our accounts back ever so simply is so frustrating.

Yeah, my account is going to be deleted soon with 3 days ish left. Nothing I can do now since 90% of my data has already been wiped. I was suppose to pay for Nitro yesterday but never happened so my biling info is gone which is good but further shows that I no longer own the account. 7 years of my life down the drain lol

Either the info is gone or it can't renew because it's disabled but I guess the reason doesn't matter. Good to know though because mine is supposed to be gone by Fri and I had an email at the beginning of the month saying they were gonna autorenew nitro on Feb 1 unless I stopped it which i couldn't. I was wondering if they would still try to take my money anyway.
I do kinda wonder what exactly they wipe because everything stays behind in terms of the messages you typed in servers and your dm history with other people. No matter how you put it, their ban system is just stupid. Nothing I did gets wiped and I can just make a new account and continue doing whatever I was doing before the ban. So banning me does nothing but break my heart because I had such an old account but if this new one gets banned in 5 months from now, I really wouldn't care to even be appealing. Make another and continue like nothing has happened cuz that's all their ban system does. Mildly inconvenient for those who are out to spread real harm and heartbreaking to those who have a lot of memories, history, servers they own/manage, etc.

Yeah sucks to lose such a big part of my internet life but I had a backup account made in similar time as my first one so I can still have an old account lol. Hopefully, I can go through old screenshots to find the friends and servers i’ve made in those 7 years

Update: Account is now officially deleted and someone already took my old "@77" to sell it. I added the person because my old @ was gone in like 1 second but the person disabled friend requests from strangers. Probably sniped the @ with a bot.

Luffy I have an alt account I made a couple years ago (Acc1) and my new main account (Acc2). I'm going to make up usernames for the explanation.
On Acc2, I changed my username from waterlover to waterhater over a week ago.Today I tried to change my Acc1 username to waterlover, but it said it is unavailable. I sent a friend request to see if it was taken and it wasn't. Then I tried to change Acc2 back to waterlover and it says it is available.
I hope that makes more sense. So basically the account that used the name was able to switch back if I wanted to, but not a different account.
In case anyone wants to try, the username I'm talking about is .pandemonica.
If it says it's available to you, let me know cuz that would be even more strange.

Marsarita LIT LIT LIT I dont think there is any way to change it to the account that was disable because it might be tight to your email, maybe… If .pandemonica is disable before and wasnt on Acc1 and Acc2, then it would be very hard to get the username back. I believe there is a cooldown when you changed your Acc2 to waterhater, waterlover is still tight to your account. Wonder what's the cooldown for waterlover to be available to the public.
Just checked .pandemonica and .pandemonica. and it's not available. It might still be tighted to your old email account and dont know the time frame for that name to be release tbh.
EDIT: But it's still very unnecessary for us to go through stuff like this tbh. I have lost all hopes for Discord at this point. I still very much enjoy Discord but very hard to justify to support Discord in any ways.

Yea I'm not sure. I had read a reddit post where people said it was 24h, or 30h or something. One person said it had been 4 days at the time and it was still not available. In my case, I know I changed it more than a week ago, but I never thought to keep track at the time. Was just changing my username :/ But you're right I guess. It was hopeful thinking but I'll still try cuz why not

77 didnt notice ur message yesterday - damn :( so it was immediate. Sadly I don't know when exactly mine got disabled. I have the timestamp when I made my ticket, but I can't remember how fast I reacted or how fast I made my ticket because I was in shock ..rip I guess

I really don't care about what my username is lol. It's just that the support is so bad that these scams are allowed to be a thing without consequences on the scammers

At least you got a respond from a real person, right? I mean that just show that the layoff was a bad idea. I bet you anything that they're so behind on tickets. Maybe a good idea to check the forum overall and see whats going on and be more aware of what's going on.
