A bunch of the new appearance changes and options are worse than the old ones.
You changed the light mode background to not be white. It's an eggshell tone.
Guess what: This makes it harder on my eyes, and since all the overlaid bits are using pure white, those pure white bits pull my eyes away from the text. This means that if there's a rich embed, I struggle to read the text that isn't embedded, because contrast rules are in fact a thing that seems to have been ignored. If I am typing a message, the white of the message box pulls my eyes away from the text that I am trying to reply to.
The rest of this is not directly “I can't read text in the text chat application”; but you changed it for the worse and not in the ‘you changed it so it sucks’ way. I actually like a bunch of the changes that I noticed (tighter spacing and less-tall channel names with bigger category names being the big ones).

Like, it's one thing to change the user drawer to be a floating bubble so that it's wider. But now it partially blocks the bottom-left of the server list, which looks pretty ugly because it's random overlap.
Shrinking the size of server icons means I can fit more servers on screen which is nice…. except clicking them now actually requires mouse precision, which I don't want to have to have. And I can't customize the zoom level per-component, so if I want bigger server icons I'd have to have bigger text which I really don't want.
And no, zooming in and then decreasing the font size does not actually give the desired result.
The thickening of the header bar looks, bluntly, terrible. I understand that that was done so that the Help and Inbox buttons could live there instead of in the lower region where the Search bar is. However, this change means I have less vertical screen space, which was the gating item.
Furthermore, it's mostly wasted space! If there were more buttons up there it'd be better, but right now it's holding 3 buttons and a reminder of what server I'm in. Something that the channel drawer already does. And because it's
The bottom, as well, has a wider buffer between the message box and the edge app, which… why? You didn't even make the message bubble line up with the user status bubble! It looks so awful!
Single-tick multi-line code blocks look awful because they cut off on the left but the first one has a rounded bubble which means that tHE MONOSPACE IS NOT ALIGNED.
*I'm* glad that the “Discover” button is now actually at the bottom of my server list, but that's because I never use the button, and everyone I've talked to who actually does use it is incredibly annoyed by the loss of it.
