Refreshed Desktop GUI Interface
Today March 25th, you rolled out an unnecessary desktop refresh that lacks customization options. These updates instantly decreased legibility, made users feel overwhelmed by visual noise, and
We hate that you made the server icons smaller, even on the "Spacious" setting. At the very least, we should be able to choose the size of the icons.
Having the server name in the top bar is an idea, but it feels redundant when you also have the server name at the top of the channel list on the left.
A lot of UI is outlined now for some reason and the window bar at the top has doubled in size, even on compact mode. There is way too much padding now.
The new UI scales poorly. Many text elements are now way smaller and harder to read as well.
Why is the window so pointy now? Why are server images squares rather than circles now?
I can't even tell what the consistency across desktop and mobile devices is supposed to be because I refuse to update my Discord mobile app after realizing that the design team would change things without community feedback and without users being able revert changes.
Every time you try to change something mobile or desktop it feels like it gets worse. Even if the community will eventually get used to the changes, that implies that the changes were never necessary or useful in the first place.
It is nice that the channel list is finally resizable. That is a good change because it is optional. There are new colors, I suppose. (Why is the mute button a red background?) There are justifiable changes and there are those that make loyal users resent the platform.
