Hi Discord Team and dear reader!

 

This would be a feature request for Message Threads, like we can see on Slack.

 

As a matter of fact, when sending messages in a crowded channel (+15ppl) conversations can easily get lost in the mix. Message threads solve this issue by creating a "sub-channel" on the message that initiated the thread, allowing participants to continue their conversation without spamming the main channel and allowing other users to do the same.

    Using this all the time on Slack, really hope this will become a feature on Discord soon... So many conversations get lost in text channels.

    my team has moved from slack to discord and we're REALLY missing the threads. considering going back to slack since its almost impossible to have the types of conversations we need to be having without them.

    Slack really wins here. I had to open a github just to deal with issue tracking for my server. If we had threads, I could handle it all natively in Discord.

    It's like we are talking to the wall. Not even an acknowledgement of any sort or a "Hey screw off, we are never going to do that"

    This feature is a massive benefit to users.

    Nesting and threads are important. Otherwise it creates a parallel conv chatter. Hope this becomes a thing.

    I really do wish the Discord team would listen to their user base and at least acknowledge that they see this and are either not interested, or working on a way to implement it.

    This is the only feature that keeps me preferring Slack for text groups. Would be a useful feature for all but would really cement Discord as a potential alternative for professionals (voice chat+threading would really make me push Discord over Slack).

    Yeah, it's been really hard to follow conversations, especially when topics diverge or new questions come in.

    Maybe the reason they don't action this request is because the mods will have too much trouble to watch all the threads.  Who knows.

    Please add threaded messages. This thread is over a year old and no response from Discord. Threaded messages would make this a 10/10 messaging/voice server app

    Yes, PLEASE ADD THREADED MESSAGING, or some fancy way to finger out the last few comments of a channel into a new or existing channel, to form the catalyst of another new conversation!

    Yes, I really would appreciate this feature! Discord is such a great messaging app, but its just really hard to keep track of multiple conversations in a channel. Please add this!

    As @frostbyte000jm says, I reckon there are quite a few people here that would be willing to pay money at this. I would love for someone from Discord to do the numbers and check how many of the 1346 people who have upvoted this at time of writing have actually paid for Discord Nitro.

    Maybe Nitro subscribers should get 100 votes, then this feature might be the top voted yet-to-be-implemented feature in the wish list?     Please implement this feature, or at least tell us that you're working on it. Yours, a frustrated user.

    Slack has message threads, Discord doesn't and it's making it very hard for me to convince my team to switch into Discord from Slack. Just implement it already.
