Saving comments Pinterest style
I am running a Discord channel for learning a software. The problem is that valuable information slowly disappears due to the nature of a chat. I do prefer chat over forums but forums has the advantage of becoming a library. On Discord, If we could store comments we find useful in a certain topic (folder) which later becomes like a personal software manual ( exportable as PDF) no information would get lost. All defined topics for example become the personal index page.

how is this different from the pin feature that exists already? 0 -
@Zacatero Pins are done for everyone, and one doesn't always have the privilege to pin. Plus the pin stays in the channel.
He would like the ability for everyone to save "links" to every message he wants, and probably in a centralized way.0 -
Yes. Imagine you want to learn a software. People are throwing around dozen of valuable tips every day. It is impossible to remember those. So yes, saving important comments including links and screenshots to a personal notepad would be amazing! I am pretty sure all software related channels would vote for this kind of feature.

This is honestly very useful, as there are limitations to ideas like personal pins, and being able to save messages would allow for users to export message lists as a configurable file (e.g. checklist of by server/channel/time/user, download options for file types, download path) - this would take a significant burden off of Discord in terms of app load and related issues. I think if this were ever implemented, being able to select messages from the search function when choosing which messages to save would tremendously expand a user's ability to interact with the app. 0 -
There is already a pin feature that does basically the same thing as this. Also, they can just write down the direct message link to get back to it at any time. 0
