Increase the limit of user created notes, or remove the restraint.
Currently Discord only allows you to add 500 notes to a user's profile. This is an understandable limit, but it serves to be problematic for users who are responsible for overseeing large communities.
Note taking is a critical aspect of my interactions on Discord, as it allows me to keep track of my userbase and not only remember who someone is, but potentially important pieces of information related to them. For example, their gender, timezone, or critical information like whether or not they are a minor. Needless to say, I've hit this 500 limit and can no longer make new notes- making keeping track of / remembering new users difficult.
I'd like to suggest one of several things:
A: Increase the capacity of notes we're allowed to add above 500.
B: Remove the limit altogether.
C: Add the ability to manage your notes. I was advised by Discord support to start removing notes, but this is difficult when a lot of users I've added notes to are no longer on the server. Meaning I'd need to remove notes from people I still interact with to make new ones- which is kind of counterproductive.

I have about a dozen—that's 12—notes, at all, as in ever entered, not just on users I'm friends with, not just on users I remember—12 notes tops ever filled out. My notes are all deleted, gone, nothing there anymore. I use the web version, on one single computer. I've never used anything else, no apps, no 3rd party software, just the plain, vanilla web version with less than 12 notes ever entered, and all my notes are all wiped. That's not a 500 limit issue, that's a bug. People have reported this years ago. Discord? They don't seem to care.

I use notes to keep track of people whose accounts later become Deleted Users (with tags like Deleted User [8hexdigits]#[4digits]) for whatever reasons (either self-deletions due to dramas of their own, or deletions by Discord Trust & Safety as a consequence of violating the Terms & Guidelines), & I need to keep track of my DMs with them in case I need to revisit them for whatever reasons.
I have full Nitro & strongly consider a 500-note limit a hindrance, so it should be at least doubled to 1000 notes as a new Nitro perk.

I keep having this issue. 2 times now I have noticed some of my notes are gone, and not even just randomly but the most important ones. This is extremely infuriating. I am literally about to cancel my nitro if I don't get a concrete response to this. This is CRITICAL ISSUE, and it has been basically ignored for 2 years. This is an unacceptable level of incompetence.

I have to sadly report the same findings as ISAAC. Random notes of people I write with daily just suddenly dissapear :/ wtf is up with that?

I've been an active discord user for less than 2 years but already ran into this limitation several months ago. I teach classes that have up to 100 students per session. Being able to store brief notes about each student was extremely helpful. Why, out of all the billions of gigabytes of data that you store, would you decide to scrimp on this one particular, extremely useful feature (that already had a 240 character limit!)? For the love of all that is holy, please remove this limitation!

The limit still exists
The problem still unresolved
Hopes still in my heart
But as time goes by, all it brings is endless despair1 -
While we wait for Discord to fix this, you can get the UserNotes plugin to fix this problem, on PC at least.

The limit is now 1500, but it's poorly communicated. There's no UI feedback; it just eats what you put in. If you pull up the dev tools (F12 on a PC browser), "Maximum number of user notes reached (1500)" will appear as an unhandled promise rejection error. That's the only indicator that anything is wrong. For users who mod heavily, notes are an essential tool. Having this limit and having no way to even go back and manage it makes the feature much less useful. Surely Discord has the metrics to see that this is affecting people trying to use it legitimately. That may not be a large percentage of users, but that's all the more reason to be lenient. Mods contribute far more to the platform than whatever miniscule amount of data they may be consuming in notes.

I second this. We need a higher limit.

I agree with everything that was said. Please remove the limit.

I've made a suggestion that presents a possible solution to the issue:

Is this ever going to get resolved? I haven't been able to leave a note on anyones account for months now.
