Bot Developer Badge & New Restrictions TURNAROUND
PlanlanmadıAs many of you are aware, there have been recent announcements regarding the verified bot developer badge and its recent change. The change outlines how the "Verified Bot Developer" badge is being changed to "Early Verified Developer", and will NOT be given to those who verify their bots in the future.
Many people, including me who have been working hard on their bots, and putting lots of thought and time and effort into the bot have been affected by these changes as well as those who have been planning to work hard on bots.
In the statement, there were outlined fraudulent requests and apparently this is one of the factors why this change has been made. My question, and the question that has been raised by so many people is, just because other people have been trying to fraudulently get this badge, why effect the others?
Many believe that the badge is the ONLY MOTIVATION to making bots in Discord, as your profile is the way to show of badges, and as I outlined earlier, there have been many people including myself who have been putting lots of time and thought into their bot and are just days away to publicly releasing them.
I think, and others think that the amount of Discord Bots being created will decline rapidly as people lose motivation, so please bring the badge, AT LEAST until October 7th or for a few more weeks, as I know that Discord are trying to increase their community engagement, but this is a BAD move - you've been doing it well and giving us deadlines and telling us when things are happening such as the 2nd October, but we needed a date or warning about this as there are still many willing developers working hard out there who have missed out due to this unfortunate change.
All I, and members of the Discord Developers and the Bot Developing community on Discord ask for is to turnaround this change, and give us some warning - maybe a few weeks or until October 7th, and a little warning and transparency would be nice in the future.

Enough salt here to turn a lake into an ocean. People developing bots for a badge are precisely the reason why Discord took away the badge in the first place lol. If you can't be arsed to develop good bots because you want to develop good bots, don't do it.

Most people like myself didn't wrote their bot for the badge, but the reason why we are complaining about it is because part of the developers dont get any recognition from their work anymore. and giving another part of the developers that recognition we should get aswell is unfair and it should be changed. there are alot of ways the discord team could have changed it in a fair way but they didn't. that checkmark next to your bots name is cool and all and it makes your bot more trustworthy but it doesnt give the developers the recognition they should have got by getting the profile badge

This is a big mistake discord is making . It’s like only now people who have bots in 100+ servers will be known and used .
Even if the whole discord community agrees with me discord won’t do anything .

It was my dream to get it.. now suddenly all gone... I cannot stop crying

How to get it my guy??!?@

you are absolutely right

Disagree.
The issue is that you're developing something for a badge.
-4 -
-1 I disagree.
Whilst I agree this gave people a new found incentive to develop their bots, the effort and skill required to copy and paste a bot has ruined Discords trust in their community to do the right thing.
Extreme lengths are being taken like using others passports, paying for team positions, paying for bot shoutouts and bot sharing.
The amount of verification requests would have easily been in the 100s. Heck maybe even 1000s a day.
The abrupt stop of the badge would indicate to me that only 10% of all requests were actually legitimate. This is the right choice. Discords Community is the issue, and if the badge was to be brought back, there would need to be just as many insane restrictions that would cause more controversy; and even then people would find ways to abuse it.

Of course people would abuse it lol. There are tutorials available on youtube on how to get to 100 servers for bot verification. Maybe the 10 people here might not abuse it, but there are 1000s out there who will basically do the bot version of paying for followers or 'likes'

oh nooooooooooooooooooo
-6 -
just saying you want it to go back is showing that all you want is the Badge discord did the right thing
-6 -
Completely not agreeing. Look, you know that badge is cool, right? You would've wanted it as well, won't ya? So why do you want to take it US, the ones who were given the honor to luckily get it, away? Please view this from my perspective. Anyway, discord does not see how much effort or time was put into in a bot and if it was made just for the badge or not. So keep that in mind. Just stopping the badge is a good thing. Not cool, ngl, but it was their decision we need to respect, because every view, opinion or situation needs to be respected. In your view, I would be insulted as well, but see I got projects running and started discord bots even without knowing about the badge.
Even after the 19th of August, I am continuing my projects and so on. Stop shitstormin discord, please!!!
You're sincerely

I AGREE TO THIS
@everyone UPVOTE!
October 7 is a great day to have this "Early" badge, because it's when bots will HAVE to be verified to get in 100+ servers.

everyone is blowing this out of proportion I stand with discord and I support the decision
-11 -
> Many believe that the badge is the ONLY MOTIVATION to making bots in Discord
thats the whole point of doing this, so people doing it just for the badge don't do it.
-14 -
yeah all they want the badge for is to look "cool"
