Spotify auto pause replacement
If you already have the ability to pause Spotify couldn't you somehow get the sound from Spotify and cancel it out similar to echo cancellation. This would fix the problem of Spotify's privacy policy or whatever and also stop Spotify from bleeding into my calls which has always been a problem for me. Also, Spotify auto pause is very annoying, it stops my music when in games because for me to hear my music over the game sound my mic can pick it up. You could probably even reuse the code you used for echo cancellation and just somehow put in the sound from Spotify instead of the sound from the discord call. You already have Spotify integration with discord.
I know headphones are an obvious solution here but there is a bug that doesn't let me listen to music when I'm in a discord call and have headphones on so I guess if the bug was fixed that could work for me but I really think this idea has something going for it. I thought about it before Spotify auto pause was a thing but I never thought there could be support for it. Now that I see that you need something like Spotify auto pause to appease a privacy policy I think that there could be support for this. You could turn a legal thing with Spotify into a good feature for users. I always hate it when my friends' music bleeds through especially when its not the whole song and if its not the whole song Spotify auto pause can't even stop it.

This activates even when using a headset, and it is super annoying. I'd say Spotify is to blame here for their idiotic policies. Anybody pirating music over Discord will have to be truly desperate to accept that atrocious audio quality. Such desperation, especially considering how inexpensive Spotify is, is only something people from seriously poor countries will exhibit. Even a metropolitan lower middle class Indian such as myself can easily afford Spotify.
This is a disgustingly toxic policy that has made me consider cancelling the subscription, and I do not think Discord should waste resources on that worthless company that not only does idiotic things like this, but insufficiently compensates the artists who generate the revenue in the first place.
It is not a trivial matter to chain multiple 180° phase-mismatched waveforms for echo cancellation. Each pass will increase the resource consumption, and it takes years to come up with an efficient algorithm to just cancel one source. Discord's main USP is the lightweight voice communication it allows, that lets people with potato PCs like myself use it very comfortably even while playing demanding physics simulators.
It would be a terrible shame if accommodating Spotify's stupidity is what kills Discord.
