Color scheme preventing reading text while entering

On the older android phone I'm still using a recent mobile app update switched the color scheme for just the message composition box to horrendous light gray lettering on a white background, making it near impossible to actually see what I've entered before posting. Not appearing drunk or illiterate on the server I run then takes multiple passes at editing, since that requires using the same box on the mobile app.

This occurs when using the dark (gray) or superdark modes, but not in light mode. Unfortunately light mode is an ebil abomination that burns my eyes out, leaving me either appearing stupid or blind if I try to use the mobile app. I can find nothing in the mobile app to adjust these colors other than mode. Earlier versions worked fine, with reasonable contrast in the box for entering text.

I also have an older phone on lollipop running the newest version of the app. The light grey text on a white text box is almost unreadable. I don't know why a white text box is part of the dark theme with a light grey text. This app is almost unusable because I can't read what I'm typing. Please change the colors.
