Unlinking Mobile Devices

They should make it so that you can unlink your phone number from your Discord account. I linked it under the impression I would be able to, and only then did I learn that I would have to create an entire new account to do so, which would disable my existing account. I don’t understand why this has to be so complicated. Contacting Discord support was not helpful.
