Discord voices too loud after last update
Last day i updated discord and my headset broken with discord. I using razer synapse and my program doesnt see discord. Everyting is too loud like %1000.I've tried restart pc and restart discord, reinstall discord and reinstall synapse but doesnt fix.Can anyone help me?

For me its totally random if it works or not... sometimes im restarting both programs 10 times, leaving channels, rejoining them, switching volume levels and nothing works. And for some reason sometimes simple channel rejoin without any restarts fixes issue and it goes down to volume i want

it's exactly as you described, I have two instances of Discord in Windows Volume Mixer.
The problem is that Discord is not visible in Synapse as described in original post by Aylistin, so we can't try to set it to 2.0 Stereo.

Hi guys! I have a 100% solution for this.. Think both discord and Razer will not update this because its only known with this headsets..
So.. the solution.
First of all Close the Discord appLocate the discord folder at your PC, in my case -> C:\Users\"My Username"\AppData\Local\Discord\app-0.0.306\
rightclick on Discord.exe and choose properties
choose compatibility and activate run as administrator and then run in windows 8 compatibility mode and apply.
delete your shortcut and make a new one. Then run the program.This works for me but if you still having problem try to troubleshoot compatibility in properties/compatibility at the top.

I have a Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 and also have the problem. Every other program's volume is normal, so it's just can be discord.

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen. Hi, My name is Sean. If you all can, someone who is having this issue, confirm if you have two instances of discord present. Here is an example of what I see now. Before I saw two, one of which was utilizing the discord sounds, the other utilizing the 7.1 sounds. I believe it may have something to do with the 7.1 settings being turned on, and discord itself treats it as a seperated volume mixer. If you all can, or anyone can, try disabling the setting in your Razer Synapse settings and see if this alleviates it.

Same problem as "theilak" where Razer Synapse doesn't have discord present, but the Speaker Volume Mixer still has 2 instances of discord running.

I'm having the exact same issue as described here, I have a Razer Man'O War headset and see the two discord instances in the volume mixer.
For Nedaap's solution:
I'd had issues with Razer synapse 2.0 (legacy) in the past so I'd already disabled it under task manager>Startup. That being said, I'm still experiencing this issue too, so I'd be surprised to see how razer synapse 2.0 (legacy) is causing this issue if it's not running when it happens on my computer...
For chappie's solution:
This also intermittently solves my problem. If I restart discord a couple times, sometimes it'll go away. If it doesn't, sometimes a computer restart solves it. However sometimes the issue persists through these two steps, and then the only way I got it to stop was to uninstall and then reinstall razer synapse 2.0 (that program is required for my headset to work apparently :/). Reconfigured my headset, then immediately turned that software off again because it eats CPU resources like nothing else. Then and only then did it solve it this time around. No idea what i'll have to do next time this issue pops up, as it's happening multiple times a day now. Wtf discord, and wtf razer for not getting your legacy headsets compatible with synapse 3 yet. It's been years. Shame on them.

I may have finally found the solution! (I believe people with Razer Man O War headsets and razer synapse 2.0 are experiencing this frustrating issue).
1. Right click the discord application
2. Click "Troubleshoot Compatability"
3. Click the first option "Try recommended settings"
4. It should then apply the update "Windows compatabiltity mode: Windows 8"
5. Test the program and click Next.
6. Finally click "Yes, save these settings for this program" and close the troubleshooter.
7. Launch discord and hopefully see the magic!

Same issue, razer headset, sometimes task manager force quit discord fixes it, and other times it doesnt.

Hey, got the same issue for like 2-3 weeks now.
Two discord apps are shown in the mixer, people are super loud 80% of the time.
Changing the volume of the "used" slider in the mixer has 0 effect.
I use the legacy synaps with my razor USB headset.

same problem persists, 2 weeks later. do you guys even care about your software or you just gonna let this burn out your users? i've been fully back in teamspeak for 2 weeks now. RIP DISCORD LOL

anybody from discord tech team wanna comment on this at all? you guys gonna do legit anything to help support the leading brand hardware with leading brand software or you just gonna let your end boom out? its been muliple weeks, dozens of people POSTING about the issue let alone countless more experiencing it and just igving up. software broke guys. say something. do anything. try :D

Still getting this same issue, identical to how many others describe it. I am using Razer Man'o'War. It may be a problem with Razer Synapse but the issue was not present until one of the recent Discord updates, so it's something that changed on Discord's end

Discord is currently working on it atleast that is what their support told me after i sent in a report with all the information about the problem.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION!!!
I found a solution which may work for someone, not quite sure. But if you open up Razer Synapse and under your "headset", and press Mixer.
You can see there is a headset volume, and application volume. For some people (It happened for me too) the discord app is not showing up. You can fix this if you open up discord, and go under Settings and at the bottom go under "Windows Settings", and disable "Open Discord". So it automatically doesn't open up discord before your razer synapse is open.
After you have done this you need to Restart your PC, so this change will take affect. After you have done all of the steps above, you need to open up Razer Synapse if you haven't already (IT'S VERY IMPORTANT YOU DON'T OPEN DISCORD BEFORE YOU HAVE FULLY OPENED RAZER SYNAPSE). Now you should be able to go under headset and open up Mixer, and you should be able to see your headset volume and discord volume. It should now look like the first picture. If it doesn't then im sorry, i don't have a solution for it. But if it works you need to click on the little Triangle, beside the mute button on the discord app.
And you should be able to see 7.1 and 2.0. Simply just change it from 7.1 to 2.0 (Mine was already 2.0 because i changed it), and it now should be fixed. Please tell if it works im very curious, it has worked for me 5 times in a row now. It could be luck though.

On the sound volume mixer, discord is going above the limit that it is set to for some reason as well

Hey all. Wanted to drop some comments. To start I have a Razer Man-O-War wireless headset.
So when you are looking at your volume settings the 2 different discord sliders are normal. One will control your volume for discord notifications (message pings and the like) while the other controls your incoming volume for voice chat. I have also been having the same issue with discord getting extremely loud. My task manager is showing 6 different instances of discord running while having the volume issues. Seems like unplugging the bluetooth receiver and plunging it back in is the most reliable method of fixing the volume for me.Hopefully a fix will come around soon because it can get to be painfully loud and makes me consider not using discord due to it.
