What's really cool about discord is the API and how easy it is to make bots as well as the server settings. However there are some things that seem like arbitrary restrictions.
For example why can't you rename the '@everyone' role? There doesn't seem to be a clear reason why this should not work other than that the developers have decided so. The same applies for the naming of channels, where text-channels can't have spaces and capital letters. I think these things should be default features but users shouldn't be completely locked out. Other examples would be that admins can always talk and write in channels which don't have talk and write permissions. Sure, this makes sense but there are cases in which this is not wanted. More customization features would make discord much more attractive and give everyone the chance to make their server fit whatever they use it for.
The justification for those things is opinion based and the changes don't seem to be too hard to do.
Now I don't want to rant here, as I said there already are a lot of cool features and settings which other services like skype will probably never have but there also seems to be a lot of potential for more.
