Video capture broken with latest Discord update and Canon Webcam software
As of today I see Discord updated (May 14, 2020) to what ever version number it is. I cannot find what the version number is. I wish you would make this easy to find. EDIT: I found this, is it the version number of Discord? Hope it helps... Stable 60259 (e36411b)
Now my Canon EOS webcam utility is not working in Discord.
Its Canons Beta Webcam utility that allows Canon DSLR cameras to be seen as a webcam. It was working fine a week ago.
Now when connected my camera shutter clicks on and immediately off again. What ever you did to the update screwed something up. All other utilities like OBS still work with the camera.

This is happening just like me. I have a Canon eos R and I can't use it in the discord it's sad I hope an update comes out to recognize the EOS Webcam Utility Beta from canon Thank you2 -
Good to know Joe, I'm seeing these complaints in the Canon Forum now also.
Lots of people are using DSLR's for their webcams now because the quality and options are so much better.
So we know its not the individual camera model specifically. Its the Discord Update not working with the Canon software period.1 -

Im using the Windows installer version of Discord. Ill try the browser version, but I had other issues with that prior.

In the browser version, people's Webcams lag, so I'm not happy with it, but the camera works there

Which browser are you using? I can only get Firefox to work with Discords web version, but Discord says Firefox cannot do video calling, only voice calls.

Just a quick feedback on Chrome. It ended up not working.
Discord would work for the canon video feed, but I would lose my Mic. Mic would cut out so bad, I had to stop the video feed in order for the others to hear me again. So it didnt work out either.
Im using an 80Mb down, 10 up internet speed which should have been plenty.
Fix your software Discord!

They can't fix it, they don't give a shit. If I write to them directly and say that the problem is in the software, it used to work, but now it doesn't, and they answer me: "Discord app doesn't support DSLR cameras" Useless support

Just what I figured. Not their problem so we are out of luck.
Funny thing is, so many streamers DO use DSLRs for their cameras. SMH.Thanks for the confirmation.

I just got a bot response from Discord on the other inquiry I sent out saying they are backed up in responding right now. Hoping they might have good news by then.
The Covid garbage may well have slowed them down. Ill wait and see.

Hello, no one is running EOS Webcam Utility Beta 0.9.0 in Discord, the camera turns on and off immediately. I am not the only one who has written in support of Discrod, but they tell me that the Discord app does not support DSLR cameras. I write them that my camera works like a webcam everywhere except Discord. As soon as EOS Webcam Utility Beta 0.9.0 was released, everything worked in Discord, but two weeks later the Discrod update came out and the camera stopped working correctly. Discord support says their app doesn't support DSRL cameras, although everything worked before the update, they say they were told so by their "engineers". Now I am writing to support Canon, maybe it will help me, maybe Canon engineers will understand what is going on and fix this problem specifically for Discrod, or maybe someone with a big name will write an appeal to Discrod to fix it. Because the community that has Canon cameras is now suffering, because in the most popular app for communication Discord Canon camera is not working correctly, Discord support is nonsense, maybe Canon support can help us

Keeping fingers crossed. :)
I have a work around but its cumbersome and is not practical at all. Takes up an extra slot in Discords video chat with a blank spot as a user. Not a good solution. Maybe canon will come through.
