Linux Screen Share Audio
One of my servers was selected for the the 'Server Video' 5% test group (April 15, 2020 according to the old messages). That week we tested multiple things, including me sharing some YouTube (via Firefox) and documentaries (via VLC) with no problems from an Ubuntu 16.04 installation (Linux) and the latest Discord version (whatever it was at that date).
Yesterday, we tried to watch some movies but couldn't stream audio from my client (v 0.0.10), . After reading the 'Share your screen with Go Live - Screen Share' post I saw the note about audio for screen share being only available for W10 and not Mac and Linux.
The question is more an issue of curiosity and peace of mind:
- ¿why was this feature removed from Mac and Linux clients? ¿It's temporary due the global implementation?
- ¿are there plans for implementing screen-share audio in the future for Mac and Linux clients?
Regards
Disclaimers:
- The 4/15/2020 was the first, but not last, day I screen shared with no audio problems. Yesterday was the first day I actually realised that I couldn't share audio, also confirmed via the post note. The lack of audio support for UNIX systems might have been there from a previous update that I missed.
- This is not a rant for being dropped (although it's sad I'm aware of the frequent problems caused by this very heterogeneous group of OS) but more of a 'wanna know why' and if I can rest assured that there are plans to be implement it again.
