Newest Discord update's voice overlay on Android has COMPLETELY ruined my ability to voice chat and operate my phone at the same time!
Since the July 1 update upon starting a voice chat, my phone becomes nearly unusable due to it using my proximity sensor like a phone call while on a server voice chat. When I try to select a friends dm the screen blacks out until I move my hand. Also anything else you need to push on the top of your screen. I never plan to use a voice chat like a phone call. But there should be an option for both. For now I'm completely unable to voice chat with my friends. Please fix this. I rarely get the chance to talk to them and I missed an opportunity due to this.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I found that a workaround until they fix it is to go video. If you dont want to show your face put tape or a sticker on your camera. Your camera is not your proximity sensor. But if connection issues are also a problem I dont know what you can do.

Just find out that you can choose between speakers or phone in the chat options. For some reason phone is set by default, we set to speakers the proximity sensor no longer applies.
