An Official Discord Server
My idea is to have Discord create a server where they can post announcements, upcoming updates, host events (like the giveaways), and more. This would be available to join in both the footer on the website and once you join in either a popup or an email. They wouldn't be forced to join it, of course. This way, Discord can have a centralized way to communicate with their users, server owners, bot developers, and more. In addition, it would be a way for Discord to show people their vision for how Discord can be used and it's potential. Perhaps there could even be chat channels to further a sense of community around Discord. I find it difficult to keep up with Discord on Twitter, Reddit, and the multitude of other services they use. Why do they use other services so heavily instead of their own? I don't think that shutting them down entirely is needed (advertising and other ways of communicating are important), but having one place to get info from Discord would be really helpful. Potentially it could foster a sense of community within Discord and showing off Discord's abilities to new users. I have also heard this exact thing from many others, and I know that many others have a strong desire for such a thing.

It's not a bad idea, but imagine the chaos, imagine the amount of people that may join the server that would make it crash.

Yeah but to lower the lag and lower the chances of the server crashing its better off they make it exclusive to nitro members

or use a more expensive dedicated discord server? just like dedicated computer for that server unlike every other one where its multiple servers per host.

They could maybe make many discord servers so it wouldnt lag that much?

Yeah that would be amazing but 100 mil+ use discord and if a lot of people join the server, the server might crash or maybe lagg so I don't recommend that idea but honestly the idea is nice but we need to even think about how it works :)

That wouldn't happen as servers have limits. You can fit 700k in one sever
