Discord App on MacOS constantly shows notification badge.

On my Macbook Pro, running Catalina 10.15.3, the Discord App always shows the notification badge (a red circle) over the app's icon.  The badge is not cleared by checking/acknowledging all notifications. The consequence of this is that I am unable to discern when I actually have notifications from the server's I participate on.

Another issue, though maybe unrelated is that the "Discord Helper (Renderer)" process constantly shows as "(Not Responding)" in the Activity Monitor.  This has no bearing on anything I do in Discord App, including text, audio, video, but maybe this has something to do with the notification problem.
