Ban System

  Discord has "kick" and "ban". "ban" is permanent, and this is a big problem in my opinion.
 The ban-system is black and white so far, and I think that it would be better if it were grey. By black and white, I mean that you either ban someone permanently or just refuse to ban them. So, if someone just DMs someone without their consent by saying "hello" they either get a permanent ban or nothing. Someone who does something more damaging like exposing someone from real life, or from other social platforms gets also the same type of punishment, either permanent ban or nothing.

 I think that the ban-system could be improved dramatically if the ban system was done in limited durations rather than an unlimited one (which is the case right now.) hence, if someone DMs another one without consent, I can just ban them for 3-7 days, then they can come back again since their damage wasn't so much. On the other hand, if someone exposes another one, or damages a member in a serious way, I can ban them for 4 years or so.

 It will also feel great for people who get banned from certain server for futile reasons to find themselves being unbanned after a period of time. Getting banned permanently just because you didn't send a message in the right channel makes the person feel overly guilty which is the case now.

 This way, "kick" can be removed if the ban system becomes temporary because you can just ban them for 1 seconds or 1 minute which is technically more like a kick than a ban.

    You can already temporarily ban people by either using a bot to tempban them or just banning them then after a certain period of time you can manually unban the user

    Also, banning someone for dming someone is stupid. I hate strict and useless rules

    I got banned from my favorite server for a misunderstanding, and he unbanned me and I still can't join back into the server, it always says I am still banned. Any ideas how to fix this? This also happened when I banned someone from my server and unbanned them, but it still says it's banned on their side.

    I got banned on my friends server, we do it as jokes but for some reason when he unbanned me, its still doesnt let me in. Any idea on how to fix this? Or did i just get perma banned?

    It's IP. If you have any alts in there tell him to unban those as well. Try using a new invite after.

    Hi! So a few months ago, I joined a server called Crushes, and I got banned for "advertising", I thought that it was permanent, and I haven't been able to reach out the moderators there. Is there a way for me to get unbanned?

    I got banned for no reason. I was muted for pinging a mod and the reason was that "Pinged a mod to ask silly questions when the mod wasn't around" but the mod was online. But afterward, I got banned without any warnings or reason. I asked my friend to help so he joined the server but they quickly banned him when he demanded a valid reason for banning me.
