I'm sure door-to-door Avon sales reps felt similarly as you do to this kind of pyramid scheme. I think you really need to examine which party is out of touch here; for your own financial health and safety.

Are there pyramid schemes in crypto, yes. Are there actual communities forming around funding goodwill, also yes. If we halted innovation every time someone abused it, then we’d still be in the stone age. People who view NFTs as a cash grab do not understand what it’s really about and that’s the sad part. If you think they’re scams then don’t buy them, simple. But just because you don’t like NFTs doesn’t mean that others wouldn’t like an official stance by Discord to verify ownership. Realistically, this functionality people are raging over, is just another social media link on your profile not some elaborate scheme for Discord to integrate cryptocurrency and make current Nitro users their paypigs
-31 -
stay in denial about your token buddy, it won't bring your wasted money back
21 -
Please keep your thousands of ugly computer-generated pictures away from us
P.S., anybody who says "frens" is extremely sus
13 -
Think about it though; with how rampant discord is with scams and stuff already (which they should honestly be more concerned about rather than integrating cryptocurrency into their social gaming messaging platform) do you REALLY want to hook a wallet of any kind up to it? No matter how else I look at it, you're making yourselves look silly. The only goodwill this stuff is funding is the lining of money-launderer's pockets. Have fun crossing your fingers and waiting for Poopcoin or something to gain 2 cents in value over 3 weeks.

"For any of my environmental frens that are worried about NFTs killing our planet, please do some due diligence before spewing false statements"
How about you do that, as this stuff's been proven to do serious damage to the environment. It seems you're the one here "spewing false statements".
17 -
I really don't understand how NFTs hurt your user-experience with Discord?
If I want to show off that I 'wasted' 200 bucks for a profile picture I think that is a great opportunity for me to do that.
I get that the environmental topics can be controversial. On a longer side of things with many blockchains already being proof of stake or moving to proof of stake there won't be any issues in say a year.
I just don't understand why you are against it.
- Telling people about your KDA in ego shooters - great
- Telling people you boost a server - great
- Telling people that you payed for something on a blockchain - somwhow seems to hurt everyones feelings?
-23 -
“ThE earTh iS fLat aLsO nFtS aRe kiLLinG oUr pLaNeT aNd aRe mOneY lAunDeriNg”
yes yes bro XD keep hating on some pictures lmaooo XD these people smh-21 -
SaladThief, I commend your focus on regulating the crappy stuff out of the blockchain. We probably agree on many more topics than one would assume, but I think that silver lining is our only hope. Whether we like it or not this technology will be integrated further and further, so we need to bolster behind actually good projects that align with our values. The power of crypto is that it levels the playing field between little communities and current powerhouses.
0xdefidude is based, nfts should just be the next evolution of csgo and lol skins 2.0, except now they’re player owned and interlopable
-24 -
"keep hating on some pictures" bro just commission artists for art you can actually own. You own a receipt that can expire at any moment. The spirit of the free internet dies at the hands of crypto. If you like the idea of buying skins and access to jpegs that bad, download some gacha games on your phone, idk.
Also... dude... you're missing the point. NFTs directly conflict with my values and the values of the art community. This doesn't benefit "little communities" and never will, and only exists to exploit them. There is a reason absolutely no one but the people in NFT echo chambers want this stuff. If you actually want to make a difference, don't just give up in the face of greedy corporate entities trying to force this down our throats to cash in on trends. This stuff is seriously dystopian.20 -
once again agreed partially; i think the vast majority of people underestimate the power of being this early in a new economy. if you could expand on this exploitation that you’re mentioning, i’d gladly listen. my stance is i don’t support zuckerbergs metaverse, and indeed, mcdonald’s nfts are just them cashing in on a trend. however the thing is, there is a massive ecosystem of developers, artists, and regular people building in the background making their own dreams a reality. that’s what i like about it all, and those are the projects i try to find and support. that’s what the gm mentality is all about :)
-20 -
If you've spent 10 minutes online actually listening to the art community in the past year, you'd know exactly what I'm talking about. Hell, people had to lock their accounts and go private after the NFT stuff started picking up.
Literally everyone and their mother has educated ppl online on this issue. You're not interested in hearing anything, because you haven't listened after this long. You're just trying to cope and grasp at straws to defend this stuff because you've put too many stakes into it at this point. It'd be a waste of my time to listen to you blatantly ignore everything I say. Peace and love, we are kissing rn, etc16 -
@sere take a bath

I have actually never heard any of this, could you let me know what are you referring to so I can look into it more please? The only complaints I’ve heard of were copies of art that were being made, but you cannot escape copycats outside the blockchain either so that isn’t a good point imo. Secondly I’ve heard of in some cases about uneven distribution in artist royalties. The latter is dependent on the team structure, not necessarily a fault of crypto. Besides that I don’t see nor have heard feedback from the art community on what’s wrong and what needs fixing.
I actually am interested in hearing, so it seems that my points aren’t getting across either.

-13 -
I suppose what I was trying to get at was you’re spending your money on useless trash that only damages the environment and hurts artists. Also; I cannot take you seriously with how you type my dude. Capitalize your Is and work on coherent phrasing. Ecks Dee.

"This just in: You participate in capitalism but do not like En Ef Tee? AHA! CAVEMAN! Hypocrisy!"

-10 -
Yes I participate in society. That's the joke I was making. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism but that does not apply to going out of your way to invest in MLMs. Hope this helps <3
7 -
just to make it clear im not here to convince u do whatever u want im just chatting im not for or against capitalism or artist i just want my life to be cozy so doing whatever feels nice

I suppose what I was trying to get at was you’re spending your money on useless trash
I am fine with my purchase decisions. I get that you do not agree with them. That is fine by me. It is everyones individual decision to buy something or not. If you think my NFTs are trash that is ok. I purchased them for me and not for anyone else.
that only damages the environment
I can see which angle you are coming from.
and hurts artists.
This is where I don't follow. To me NFTs and NFT platforms can be an additional distribution channel for artists. I think it even increases the competition of other "art distribution platforms" to cater more to their users/artists if they want to retain them.
To me this seems like a net-positive for artists.
Can you guys bring me up to speed, why NFTs 'hurt' artists?
