Alternative to animated GIF (AVIF and FLIF Support)

GIF is an outdated file format at this point. It sucks working with it and the results just look bad sometimes. File sizes could be smaller with improved image quality with newer file formats like AVIF and FLIF. These file formats are relatively new yes, but seen from an innovative standpoint and as discord is a very innovative company I would really like to see support for these file formats coming in the near future. The old habit of relying on GIF as one of the only formats supported for animated images is a bad thing.
The new file formats support multi-bit transparency (perfect for emotes on discord) while remaining small in file size with very good image quality and color reproduction. All this GIF can't do, yet we still rely on it. The cause of this is that GIF is the most wide-spread and supported file format. Discord adapting new file formats could be one step in the right direction away from the outdated GIF format. Still supporting it but adapting newer better file formats to slowly move away from GIF.
