Support wayland + screen sharing with audio on linux
Idk why discord continues to ignore linux as it has grown a significant amount over the past 2 years and continues to grow at a fast rate thanks to the steamdeck.
One of the things that are happening in the world of linux is wayland and we are moving to wayland by default, some applications still dont have wayland support like discord
Enabling wayland support would be pretty easy as you guys use electron and chromium, but your own api for screen sharing and stuff would need to be worked on to get supported on wayland
I know there are workarounds for getting screen sharing and audio to work under linux as i use them everyday in calls but i would rlly like if discord could actually implement this themselves as i dont want to keep using these workarounds for another 2 or 3 years
Aswell hardware encoding does not work, so when i try to screen share my games, my fps looses 5 to 10% as it decides to use my cpu instead of my gpu. so i end up just livestreaming it instead as obs actually supports linux.
I hope to see discord actually fix some issues on linux as its quite odd not responding to the problems that the client has at the moment like no audio when screen sharing or no gpu encoding when screen sharing or no native wayland screen sharing support.

It seems like we keep getting new features that nobody ever asked for, while the core features we want continue to be broken…
