New Discord UI breaks my phone a bit

So the new UI  is a bit unusable.

1) I greatly dislike the fact that I can't see DM's in the server list, and that the user online settings have changed. Additionally, clicking to filter search is an additional swipe. Almost all changes besides the optional OLED black are not great. Also, this app reminds me of facebook now, which is not good for yall because the whole reason I liked Discord is that it wasn't facebook. I know quite a few users who are planning to switch to other apps now.  

2) The UI legit does not work. 
You can see here how in the first image if I try to go to settings it's underneath my battery power. Also, in both images, the buttons are under my home button. Also my phone allows me to swipe from right to left to go back, in combination with the current mobile gestures that Discord uses this is insufferable, and not useable. For reference, my phone is an Xperia IV.
